The goal is anti-work
I continue to ask myself what my goals are. Most goals stay the same for months but some change even every day.
In work, my goal is anti-work.
Anti-work is to theoretically spend 100% of your time doing something you love and derive fulfillment from, while still providing value to the world. Why the latter?
Well, because you still have to get paid somehow right? And that’s impossible without providing some sort of value to the world: product or service.
In practice, it’s impossible to achieve fulfillment in your work 100% of the time. It’s just not possible that you can be happy 100% of the time. It’s part of human nature to feel frustrated, jealous, unhappy or unfulfilled. But the goal is to get as close to 100% as possible.
I think a good benchmark is to spend 50-60% of your awake hours doing something you love.
That’s what I aim for.
Reddit hitting 1B visits per month with 4 team members
You know I love high-revenue per-employee businesses (ie. lean businesses).
In this case, we have a Time Billionaires favourite — Reddit.
One of my favorite platforms. In 2011, they had 830M visits per month with 3 engineers and a trainee. That’s “no small boy stuff” behaviour.
ChatGPT blows my mind
This is what I’m talking about (link).
I grew up with the internet so I never got to “experience” the breakthrough technology. It was always just there. Sure, it got better. But it was there.
I wonder how it felt like to experience the internet for the first time. Instead of having to go to a library and manually search for information, the internet allowed us to submit a search query in a database much larger than a physical library can hold.
And now there’s ChatGPT. It’s not perfect. Nor is there any guarantee that it’s going to be the future. But the technology is promising.
This is what it must’ve felt like experiencing the internet for the very first time.

It’s not perfect though. I’ve seen examples around the internet where ChatGPT is racist, sexist and offensive in other ways too.

The anti-work positioning is an interesting one! I feel like I've been approaching that similar ethos from the angle of part-time work which lets you build work around your life and not life around your work.
